Memoirs of a Girlfriend - by Sharon Toh

You can't change what's been written, but you can always write something new.

Keeping up appearances

August 23rd 2008 02:09
I know a man who refused to be seen in the passenger seat while his girlfriend drove; it was a man's place to do the driving.

The same man insisted that his girlfriend drive the 20km home from work to meet him, so that he could drive her to their dinner appointment... which was 5 minutes' drive away from her workplace. Rationale: how would it look for them to pull up in, shock, horror, different cars?

Really, who cares which one of you drives, as long as you're going to the same place and actually happy about it?

Memoirs of a different girlfriend

August 15th 2008 01:29
I've just taken over this blog, so all posts prior to this date are obviously someone else's memoirs.

I have always been fascinated with how humans relate to one another, and in adult life I think a large part of that relationship is in a romantic context. I know couples who make me go "aaahhhh... if only" when I see how their decades of relationship have matured and increased in value. And then there are those who make me go "AAAAAAHHHHH" in an entirely different way (the head-for-the-hills-the-dam's- broke way) when I see them rehashing the same argument, the same core issue, that has been keeping them company from the start. And in this present single state, I am trying to understand how I can get the first type of "aaahhhh" into that one lifelong relationship.
